Davydenko, segundo favorito, superó con autoridad al austríaco Jurgen Melzer, al que derrotó por 6-3 y 6-2. Söderling (3) tan solo cedió un juego ante el francés Julien Benneteau (6-0 y 6-1).

Second-seeded Nikolay Davydenko and 2009 French Open runner-up Robin Soderling were a pair of quarterfinal winners Friday at the $2 million ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament.

The world No. 6 Russian Davydenko dismissed Austrian Jurgen Melzer 6-3, 6-2, while the third-seeded 2008 Rotterdam runner-up Soderling crushed France's Julien Benneteau 6-0, 6-1 in 64 minutes on the indoor hardcourts at Ahoy' Stadium.

Davydenko and the world No. 8 Soderling will lock horns here in Saturday's semifinals.

A mild Day-5 upset occurred when 2007 Rotterdam champion Mikhail Youzhny, seeded sixth this week, took out fourth-seeded Frenchman Gael Monfils 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 in 2 hours, 55 minutes.

Saturday's other semi will pit Youzhny against top-seeded world No. 2 Serb Novak Djokovic, who received a walkover into the final four on Thursday when his scheduled quarterfinal opponent, German Florian Mayer, pulled out of the event with a left leg injury.

The 2010 Rotterdam champion will claim $380,000.
